Wolverine Coughing
#1
Hey all, been a while since I was on to look, but this time I need help. My 99 Wolv, always has ran great, except when I was taking a steep hill last time we rode. I found out all to late that I should have switched to reserve before taking the hill and I rolled her pretty bad. Nothing was hurt but a couple white spots on the fenders, broken ignition switch and bent handle bars. Anyway, It won't idle now for crap. It will rev fine but at idle it coughs and will hardly run. The plug was wet and I had to pump oil in the cylinder to get it running at first but since then I've removed the carb. Cleaned it with carb cleaner. Cleaned the air box and K&N for regular maintenace but I can't for the life of me figure out why it's coughing and idleing for crap. Snows gonna be flying soon and I need my plow so HELP. I'm planning on getting a new plug just for chances, but I'm wondering if it will help. Thanks in advance. And btw, did I read someone else saying that the Wolv is gonna get seletable 2x4x4 next year?

Check to see if the air intake between the carb. and engine isn't broken. If it was cracked bad enough, which all Yamaha's have been known for this problem, the flip could have jarred it apart.
Next, check to see if the parking brake switch was damaged in the crash. If it was, chances are that it is causing a mis-fire in the ignition. Usually, when this happens, it runs good at idle but not at high revs., but you might want to look at it anyway.
I haven't heard of any "for-sure" things about the Wolverine next year. I still haven't figured out why they haven't given the Wolverine the old Kodiak's cylinder like they did the Big Bear two years ago. Makes you wonder why they have sat on this model even though the parts to upgrade it are already on the shelf. [INCLUDING THE SWITCHABLE 2WD/4WD]. Must have some BIG plans for the model in the future.
