Common problem. You need to tighten the nut at the bottom of the steering stem. Mine comes loose every couple of months.

Ya, mine came loose and kind of messed up the teeth on the steering stem, now I have tho get a new steering stem. I was thinking of getting Roll Designs fron Duncan racing or lonestar racings steering stem. Any thoughts would be greatly appreaciated. From now on I'll make sure that nut is tight.

rraptorr13, This is just the first of allot of bolts that will loosen!! Check the rear sprocket studs also, This is very common and can cause big problems if they do come out. I use RED lock tight on all the bolts now and haven't had a problem, Blue WON'T hold.

Go to your dealer and get yamaha part#90171-14056, it is a castle nut. Remove your old nut and replace it with the new nut and your steering won't loosen up anymore. Yamaha should have used this nut in the first place. I did this too mine over a year ago and it has solved the problem.
