fourlix-can anything be done with the stock springs that come on the badger? thanks and good luck. if all works well don't throw the jigs away as a few of us badger owners might be calling. I am trapped in he is to small to move up, but the suspenion is dangerous for the way he wants to ride.

My mods are working out well. By replacing the rear subframe struts, the rear wheel travel is increased to 6". Works has shocks for the Badger, which increases wheel travel to about 3.5". Only by moving the shock location from the lame-o over the axle setup to in front of the battery can 6" be achieved. I will probably have over 50 hours in this by the time I am done, but it will be great.
I am trying to get everything lined up as I go, I am not using a jig. But I will try and get some pics up today. This is a pretty ambitious project, but when I saw the Kasea Skyhawk with it's copy of the Blaster front end I thought I could make it work. I'll go take some pix.

Sounds like a great project fourlix! These projects can be more fun when doing them for your kids than for yourself, just to see the look on there face. I can't wait till my little one is ready to graduate to gas power . I would like to see the pics when your done and maybe give me some ideas !

Good luck on the project, sounds like fun. Our sons are the same age, mine will be five in april also. I bought him a LT50 a few months ago. It fits him great, but like you said he will outgrow it quickly I am sure. I however have a freind that has kids that are younger than my son and so I will probably sell it to him in the next year or so and get an 80.

My son is a big guy for his age also, he weighs about 65LBs. The little suzuki moves him pretty good and I have seen some mods for them also.

Have fun
Bat

Way to go Fourlix. That sounds like a fun project. I like building things, and seeing them come together, and work right. Since you have a TIG welder, when he outgrows this 80 motor, you could put a YZ 80 motor in it. That thing would be awesome. Looks great, runs great, sounds unlike any other Raptor..

I spent most of today aligning and adjusting the major frame pieces.
Tacked, retacked, refitted, realigned. Here's the major frame pieces welded up. Many Brackets and A-arms next... Raptorette 80

That is so cool. I saw an 80 at the dealer the other day. It makes me wish I had a kid, just so I'd have an excuse to get one! Anyway, I can't wait until you have it done. That is going to be one awesome quad.

Good luck!

Got the rear wheels on. The rear track is 42" wide, outside tire to outside tire. That's only a half inch less than our stock Grizz was. Had to redrill the hub for the larger bolts and pattern. The front track will be 40". The wheelbase will be 41.5", I think, 42" if I stretch it. It will still weigh well under 250 lbs. That's still 70 lbs lighter than a Blaster, and a bunch lower. But only a 80cc 4-stroke with no hop-up potential, and a three speed gearbox. It will take him many years to outgrow this.
Mounting A-arms has to be next. Lots of brackets. Tomorrow, and Monday. I could have a rolling chassis in a couple of days......

Go, Fourlix!!! Maybe Yamaha should take note of this. They missed an excellent opportunity to do the job right the first time instead of cheaping out with a re-skinned Badger. Please post more pictures soon.
