One of the many gear suppliers were sending defected gears to the assembly plant. Its gonna be like picking names out of a hat, if your qauds tranny gears were from that certain gear manufacturer than your tranny will probably go. Me personally i havent seen it on my or the other 2 i ride with. If mine goes and YAMAHA doesnt replace it for free with an upgraded gears I am going to RAISE HELL! HEY I know the RAPTOR isnt the best race quad ever like the 250R but as far as high performance trail riding, owner friendly , powerhouse quad, I think it is the best buy on the market at this time or any in the past.
