Warrior top speed
#14
Hey Warrior nuts, I bought a Warrior a couple of months ago and can not figure out what year it is. The frame is red w/white plastic and it has a red seat cover. I almost forgot it also has gold rims. I searched high and low for a data plate no luck. I'm pretty sure everything is orginal. By the way I paid $500 dollars for it and rode as soon as I got it home.
Thanks in Advance.

If a Warrior won't run around 65mph stock something is wrong with it. The 3 Warriors I have owned all seem to be about the same, the 98' Warrior I have now will run 64mph at least. Here is a quote from Dirtwheels June 2001 issue " The machine revs out smoothly, but not as quickly as some of the other sport four-strokes of today. It hits a top speed somewhere in the high 60mph range." end of quote!!

I think you'll see alot of differences here. If you notice most of the lower top speed numbers seem to belong to older quads. Maybe a bit down on power from wear? The road surface, elevation, and air temperature, rider weight, current state of tune, tire wear and inflation are all factors that may affect the numbers. I've said it before and here goes again my '98 Warrior when it was new (under 30hrs) pulled 63mph on level hard packed gravel road, verified by an eagle explorer GPS. I weighed about 160 at the time...geeze, wish I still weighed 160! It's probably a bit slower nowadays even modded, it needs a new top end.
The Warrior is a decent duner, not on par with the 400ex, Shee, or Raptor. It will climb most any bowl you can get a good run at (with paddles) Low/no buck airbox mods will gain a noticeable boost in performance. Spend a couple bucks and buy a good steering dampner, it'll save your upper body when in the rough areas of the dunes and you'll ride faster for longer.
