How much power do you get from a pipe and jeting for Grizz 660
#1
I've got a grizz 660 with 27" mudbugs and Im looking to get more power out of it.
I had a rancher with the highlifter power-kit and did not notice any gains in power.
If anyone has inproved the performance of the grizz, please let me know what works best.

I have 27" Bi/Tri claws on my grizz, and quite honestly didn't feel it took a lot away from the power...just not quite as "scary" in high as it used to be. Alas, I agree w/you that you do get used to it the way it was stock. I haven't done any powermods to my Grizz yet, but do plan on adding an HMF pipe, jet kit, and K&N. I know others have put the weights out of the 600 Grizz into the 660, which lead it to rev higher before engaging the tranny. This seems to compensate for what you feel you lost with oversized aftermarket tires. I also have read of a fellow who's done the pipe/jets/filter and put a high compression piston in, if you want the way it felt before and then some, that's likely the route you'll need to go.
Just some thoughts....

I bought a k&n today for mine and put some univents in it I am going to the little sahara tomorrow and will let you know how much difference ir made. I have read that most of the power gains in the 660 raptors is from air box mods and filters than pipes. I think that the k&n should at least give me 4 or 5 hp and it only cost 55.00 for the filter and uni vents. I rode about 5 or 6 hrs at the dunes last week I should be able to get a good feel for the difference it should make.

Well that was back in 2002 and as I recall it did make a noteable difference. As with most of the 4 strokes i have owned the air box/filter modds always gave more bang for the buck than exahust modds. I still put k@n filters in every quad I buy. i think its one of the best mods that I can due and feal the differnce. All the pipe kits I have bought, I seldom can tel much difference in power, just more sound. Your talking 30or 40 bucks give it a try and see what you think. If thats the only modd you have you should not re-jet unless you are at a very very low altitude you probably will not need to at all.

Pipe will give you more than the filter will. Its best to do both. You are increasing flow in and flow out. It all works together. Adding a new air filter will give it a little gain but nothing big. Adding a filter, rejetting, and adding a pipe (a good one) will give you a nice noticeable gain. And it varies from one quad to another. Grizzlies respond well to a pipe and jet though whether its big gun, HMF, etc.
