Slappie's on it...Its probably a lean run-on...The engine gets lean, so the idle raises, it gets leaner, the RPM comes up, it keeps getting leaner, keeps building RPM...It can result in a lean burn down or engine seizure. Give it full throttle, pumping it hard...and it'll come down...It happens sometimes in alky bikes after a hard drag race...

Its not only a 2 stroek thing. My 68 Coronet with a 440 overheated real bad on the Arizona highway years ago and did the same thing. Pull the coil wire and it kept running for about 2 minutes. I believe it was so hot it just kept igniting any fuel that was in the cylinder. I heard that its called "desieling" Not sure, but I know its not good!
