Is there anyone out there that can tell me if 22-11-10 Skat-trak edge paddles will fit on a Raptor, or any other 22 inch paddles being run on a Raptor now, i have them from my Scrambler and dont want to spend the money when these only have one season on them, any help would be appreciated

thanx,

yes. i ran some 22x11x8 skat-trak haulers one time. you have to bend the heel guard a little. not really into bending things on my quad. on purpose anyway. the paddles will hit the heel gaurd.

well i stopped at my local Yammy dealer and did some measuring, i think its gonna be close on the heal plate, (if i have to take it off i will) but i was also wondering about the power output and handling, im sure the Raptor's got enough ***** but im wondering about the handling, I've seen 23-10.5-12 paddle kits for the Raptor, so im sure that the 22's cant be that bad but i want some input from someone who's tried the 22's

If you could let me know id appreciate it Richie

thanx.

well, there's not a lot of "dunes" around here except for the occasional sandbar at a creek. but from what i've read on this web sight most duners prefer a taller gearing and the height of your tires affect that. but sand tires are usually 2-ply and weigh nothing. just pick up a stock tire and rim and someting like that skat-trak and you'll see. anytime you lower the weight of items your motor has to move (i.e. chains, sprockets, axles, even internal motor parts)the better. so don't worry about the power. the V shaped paddles, in my opinion, have just as much forward traction but turn much better. if your only going to use then on sand and are not planning huevos type jumps get the lightest weight aluminum you think is safe. the height is something you'll have to figure out yourself. i bought some paddle masters for drag racing on hard pack and they are way too low-profile for my twelve tooth. they are about the same weight as stock, but way harder than average sand tires. just remember more paddles is'nt always better. check out dirt wheels mag. on page 128 feb. 2002. great sand article. also, i'm not trying to be "uncool" but if you remove the heel guard and your foot slips, your leg will become stove top. seen it happen too many times. good luck.

when i bought the tires ive got now i had both the dune trackers and the skat-traks put on .190 Douglass red label, i should have went with the Ultimates, but i didnt, the front rims will bolt right up, while the back rims, are going to have to be redrilled, (I'm a Tool and Die maker and have access to small CNC bridgeport mills) I can get them as close or closer to center than stock, and taking off the heel plate thing kinda scares me too, ive been trying to find a set of nerf bars that go back behind the peg, (i really like the graydon prolines, but im not sure?) When you "adjusted" your heel plate, did you have to bend it a long ways or not?

im also not sure if the paddles on the Edge are .875 like the haulers, I think my best bet is to wait until i get the Raptor and try em out, if they hit worry about it then,

thanx richie

Paddle tires will definitely suck up horsepower, especially on the four strokes. I rode my raptor mostly in the sand dunes and I used the stock Dunlops. I tried a pair of 20x10x8 eight paddle Haulers and they definitely slowed me down in the big bowls. I would only run paddle tires if you're into climbing big hills, but that's me. I can go anywhere a paddle tire equipped machine could go, it would just take me a little longer. I personally can't stand the damn things. On top of that it's much harder to turn with paddles.

ive never ran the straight paddle tires, but i hear thats there biggest problem, they want to go straight and not turn, on my scram, it was a huge difference,( i wouldnt go to the sand without them now) but that thing was a tank, the raptor's got more power, ill be sure and give a full report later this spring, im gonna make em fit one way or another! Ride On

I have a friend who has the 22" haulers on his Raptor and it rides like a Cadillac next to mine. Don't know if it is because of the 22's or the tire itself. I have a set of Sand Sharks 20x11x10 and I like running my stock tires the best. I have a lot more fun with stockers. I can go about anywhere the guys I ride with go. Sometimes if the top of the dune has caved down a few feet I will have trouble and get stranded right at the top if I don't have enough speed. It is also a little easier to get stuck when you stop on top of a dune if you don't point the nose downhill a little bit.

Your buddies Skat-Traks rode better because they are a lighter tire (less unsprung weight) but the downside is a more fragile tire. You also had 10" rims, which will ride harder than 8" rims due to the decreased sidewall height. I currently have 20" Haulers on 8" .125 rims and they are light as a feather compared to the stock Dunlops, and the ride is awesome. However like imadunatic alluded to, they don't like turning from a straight line too much. I'm looking at picking up a set of Skat-Trak Edges, 20" on 10" .160 rims this spring to have the best of both worlds.
