My Kodiak is Very Cold Blooded. It always starts, but it takes forever to warm up. Granted the temperatures have been averaging around 15 degrees F. If I try to ride it with the choke open a little, it gets very upset and doesn't want to idle. Once it warms up it idles/runs fine.

It may just be the cold temperaturs combined with the liquid cooling.

Thoughts?

it is probably the temp. mine start perfectly but it's only about 20 degrees in WV lately. i had a honda recon before this kodiac and it was cold natured to the point of annoying and was hard on the starter and battery. if it keeps up, the carb may need adjusted a little.

My 2000 Kodiak, if you are talking about a 2000 Kodiak, is a lil fussy when cold as well. What I find though is just open the choke all the way when you start it and let it close naturally. If you try and force it to close it won't idle. The auto choke, when let to itself, will work ok. my bith is that you can't put the damn thing in gear when it's idling too fast, and when it idles low it stalls!! Anyway, now that ive learned to leave the choke alone it is a very minor nuisance.

ricapito,

Thats the same problem I have. I f i just leave it alone and let it warm up it's fine. Force it to warm up and it gets angry.

I thought it might be the carb at first, but it works fine if I let it warm up on it's own.

I doesn't start hard, it fires up quick, just likes to go at it's own pace I guess!

Thanks fot the help.

Try using premium gas. My grizzly and
my honda's run far better and the economy
vs mileage is far better using the good
stuff...good riding/bushdog
