WOW, very informative post WyoDuner. If you perform regular maintnence(sp?) on it then you should be OK. Just do a top-end rebuild every year or two, or 17 haha(My 85 ATC250R is being rebuilt for the first time, good old Honda)

My brother has a 87 Banshee that has never been opened up,and still runs great. these motor's are bulletproof if taken care of and not modified internally.

I have this little pet peeve. I will put as much effort into an answer as was put into the question. The title of the post was "Banshee" and the question wasn't much more revealing. Hey, I did resist the urge to say "do a search because this question has been asked a thousand times" or "can you please provide more details".

Personally, if I really want other people to help me out I'm going to start by helping myself by at least doing enough research to be able to ask the apropriate question. And when I do ask the question I'll make sure that I put a little effort into it.

I've never heard of a 702 kit. The Banshee is actually very reliable if taken care of properly. The stock pistons on the banshee are garbage. I think i remember someone saying that you have to replace the stock pistons at about 140 hours of use. Aftermarket pistons will probably last alot longer and probably give you a little more power.

I don't know about a 702, but Tony Doukas Racing does offer a 743 kit for a banshee. Reliability may be a question but there is a big bore kit out there if you're looking.

I know WyoDuner, I was just being a smarta$$. Biggerisbetter, I only decided to do a rebuild because I would start it up, let it idle, go inside to get my helmet and stuff and I could hear the piston humming inside the cylinder.

I know the sound your talking about. I had a Tri-Z that did the same thing, Ran great, but it just drove me nuts listening to it so I rebuilt it also. To be honest the Banshee does'nt start first kick like it used to. But going on 15yrs without a rebuild is Awesome! thats like putting a million miles on a car, Just very rare. I wish now I would of left it all stock. Maybe Yamaha would have Traded me a brand new one staight up, Just so they could retire this one and brag on its reliability. He he

Biggerisbetter.
