I was at the local Motorcylce show here in MN and the Suzuki rep claimed the there new Quad was going to produce around 40-42 hp and be priced with in $200 of the ex sounds like the yamaha might have to bump up the hp on the 660 to stay on top... maybe not be so conservative and build a real limited edition...

Lets not jump to conclusions, I have seen the Suzuki Z400 hp curve & it doesn't hit 40 hp until around 7000 rpm but it does stay there & with its high rev limit it looks impressive. That is not exactly everyday "useable" hp. Before we know more about this quad regarding its reliability/performance, I wouldn't bash the Raptor too much over a Suzuki, especially in the Yamaha folder/forum.

Now, nothin' against Yammie owners (this time), but I really hope the Z400 spanks the Raptor in EVERY category, just because if a 260cc smaller quad embarasses the Raptor, Yamaha will hafta release something even bigger and better, or at least somethin' not so detuned, then the competition will start making better quads all over again........OK, OK, I hope the Z400 really beats the Raptor cuz' it would be funnier than anything I've ever seen before
.............Latah.......

I am not brand loyal. My Raptor is on borrowed time. Yes, tranny problems. Will I look at another Yamaha. It depends on how much help they will give me on my parts. They are paying for my tranny (out of warranty) but had 400 dollars in other parts go bad. A direct result of a piece floating around. I am looking foward to my Z-400. My brother and I get the first two. Might drop that to my wife and get a Cannondale. It's all about performance and who steps up to the plate when issues arise and Cannondale has done that. Cannondales are just a litte to spendy for me. If Yamaha does good for me I will pass the word along. So far it sounds like they will. Just won't own another Raptor.
