this weekend i was doing some maintainance on my raptor and decided to see if turning the bone on my rear shock upside down would lower my raptor, the shock is bolted on the top side of the bone so now it's on the bottom and it lowered it quite abit in the rear. has anyone else tried this and will it harm anything on the quad ?. i took it for a ride and it definitely sits lower in the back. i still have all the shock travel , so now i'm thinking of buying some shocks for the front with sag to lower the front now. let me know what you think...

Hopefully 660bigdaddy is a reference to your 660 engine and not your weight. This mod works okay for those under 160-170 lbs. If you are in the 200+ category and do even moderate jumping, you will smack the back portion of your frame on the ground when landing. The worst case I've read about is a cracked frame.

My buddy bought a Raptor with the rear shock mod already done & the spring came loose after a few months of riding, not sure if related to the shock being flipped though. Probably best to buy a kit from CT or someone else that sells a proven method, the only downside is the cost. The kits claim to lower the atv while increasing travel at the same time.

I'm probably one of the first to here about this setup from a guy from Austrailia on a different forum (quite some time ago). Reported the procedure and tried it myself. People have got all sorts of opinions on it but I knew it wouldn't be the setup for big jumps. I planned at the time that I could use my Raptor year round here in Michigan. I've raced bikes on the ice for years, but this setup, with the addition of A Dura-Blue front lowering kit, Durablue rear spacers and offset front rims, and the proper tire/screw combo, is the ultimate ice rocket. Its the closest thing to Sprints on dirt you can get. Forth-fifth gear wide open pitching into the courners, dicing back and forth with my bud and his Raptor on a quarter- mile ice track, what a rush! Heading up again in the morning(Saginaw Bay, Lake Huron) WAAAWHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Later.

Minor fix compared to the fun factor. I did notice the rubbing so I Put an angled zerk on. Like I said, It's not for all riding conditions, but if your into Ice riding like we are, It is just the best setup.
