I've done a lot of experimenting with my Works shocks on my DS. I've really got them dialed in, with non-adjustable rezzies. Last month I was on a bit of a rough trail ride with a friend riding my son's Raptor with stock shocks. We switched quads for a while and I was horrified at how rough the stock Raptor shocks were. SO I bought a pair of cheap dual-rate Steelers for my boy's Raptor. What a difference! And he can add compression adjustable rezzies at some point later. He likes to jump.
......After good shocks, you just can't go back to that stock crap.

WOW!! I wouldn't have thought there was that much to consider!!

I guess I came to the right place. I weigh in at 210 plus gear, I do like to jump and I plan on going bigger next year (jumping....not my weight!!).

So, if I bought Dual Rate Works Steelers with non-adjustable rezzys I would be all set??

Is the stock rear shock decent quality?? It has a rezz and fully adjustable. I wasn't planing on changing rear shock, is that a mistake??

Thanks guys!

Just to set the record strait, TCS does not use works skock parts for their shocks anymore. They use the much superior Elka parts, which are hard anodized and have much superior heim bushings in the ends. I can't comment on the old style TCS shocks, but the new ones are definetly worth the cost, and they'll last much longer as well. I used the works shocks before, and they just don't work as well as TCS, PEP, or Custom Axis. But if you can't pay to play, anything is better than the stock crap

With your weight and jumps the 210# mains would probably be the right spring. The long, 2.8" 240# helper is the only way to go. Getting the non-adjustable rezzies is fine. Just remember you only have a month for free adjustments, so get out there and thrash them. If you don't like something, like springs or dampening, send 'em back right away. That is part of what you are paying for. And what is too stiff for one guy is too soft for another. They'll probably give you the medium MX dampening, which is fine.
.......Works does a "heart transplant" on the rear Raptor shock for $175.
It's a pretty good shock as is, but can be improved upon. The Heart transplant is a bunch less money than a new shock.
.......I had heard that TCS was no longer using Works bodies, I thought they had started making their own, I didn't know they were using Elkas.
Boy, those are some expensive components. Elkas for my DS cost $1300,
that's just for the front!

Thanks again. It looks like I am going to have to start checking some prices, I may be needing some new shocks.
