I got the foam with outerwears ordered. the foam is susposed to filter sand better than the K&N. I've had K&Ns & they worked great. The main reason I went with foam is the K&N was out of stock! Ive heard K&N is a better free flowing filter. The foam is better at filtering sand etc. I'm useing the outerwear with the K&N i have to help that sand situation.

i just installed a k+n. i cut the lid off right at the curve behind the first clamps. so i would not have to spend $80 bucks on the pro-design adapter. i have not rode it yet because i haven't rejetted. i'm gonna probably go with a outerwears cover for it.

Personally, I use the K&N with outerwear for sand and the foam for dirty & dusty conditions with no outerwear. In dusty stuff the outerwear just seems to pack up with dust, especially on a foam filter since the outerwear is laying right on the oiled foam...

I don't believe the K&N is a good choice for real dusty stuff, stick with foam for that.

I have used both & can't tell a performance difference. I have been told by many people that the foam filters better but may not flow as well but is safer to use. The K&N is easier to clean. Try both, it'll give you a spare & save the hassle of having to clean one at the last minute.

I have the K+N with outerwear, the K+N is more free flowing than other filters.

Thanks for the responses. I believe I will purchase the proflow filter as I ride in the mountains during early spring to early summer due to the deserts in Southern California becoming to warm. Its very dusty up there. I'll use my current K&N for the deserts.
