The guy I bought my 87 Suzuki Quadracer 500 from gave me a time slip that shows 96mph at the 1/8th mile ice drags. Back then it had a FMF pipe, FMF reed cage, bored .060 over, head shaved .020, and ported and polished. Oh, it also had a UNI filter in the stock box, and rolled on 20 inch Turf Tamers. I haven't got it back together yet (chassis needed MAJOR work), but so far my mods to the motor are: still ported and polished, bored .080 over, cool head (pump gas dome), 39mm PWK carb, modified airbox, Paul Turner pipe, Fat Boy silencer, new FMF reed cage, clean UNI filter, 12T and 42T gearing (stock gearing, chain and sprockets were new when I got the quad), and 21 inch mudsharks on the rear. I must say I'm pretty anxious to find out what it'll do now..........

Hey Blasterman13, a modded airbox is just like the airbox you have right now, except it could have a removed lid, holes drilled in it, etc.....Anything done to the airbox to allow more air to flow to the motor is considered a "Modded Airbox" or an "Airbox Mod". I'm not sure if your lid helps hold the filter in place (like a warrior's), so just by removing that you yourself would have a "Modded Airbox". But, if you ride in alot of mud or water, you probably don't want to do that. You can also do what I did, which is what alot of people do, is to drill 5-6 1-inch holes in the lid and get some small foam filters that fit right into those 1-inch holes (I got my small filters right from a Dennis Kirk catalog), and that'll help keep water and mud out of the filter alot better than with no lid, yet still flow more air. Oh, you'll without a doubt have to rejet your quad, and you should also get an outerwear for your airfilter if you open up your airbox any.......Latah......
