what quad would be the best to build for dirt drags. taking after market parts availability into consideration as well as performance in general.

 

Banshee, if you want to be the fastest.

If you are like me and dont want to be like everybody else than take a look at the classes and decide which one you want to run in.

If I was getting into it ( and its looking real good next year ) I would run in one of the bracket classes because heads up racing = $$$$$$$ and I would run a scrambler 400 4x4with a good pipe 39mm carb shaved head or billet head Shave the flywheel down and remove anything not needed for weight. I feel that the 4x4 would give a great holeshoots and the auto would get rid of the miss shifts.

 

For speed = Banshee
To win = Anything automatic

Snomobile motors in custom chassis really rip but can be expensive. I know they work well in sand drags.

 

Either a banshee or a qaudzilla.Either one can be built to fast.The banshee probably the fastest.

I have yet to be impressed by any polaris.(no offense)I have rode a moded scrambler 400,And a 500 scrambler 4x4.Neither one beat even mt 300ex by much.On top end they did.In short 200 foot drags it was any bodies win.


I rode a FTZ370 long rod banshee.I was really impressed!That was a fast fast bike.


So Like I said banshee or zilla.As far as maybe a street bike engine.I don't think they have the proper transmission ratio's>I know a guy that has a 750 mach 1 motor in a three wheeler frame.And that banshee still beats it.And that motor is built!

Richie, I would work on that Raptor of yours. It's fast as hell now. Just go further with it.

By the way,..they shut down "Kilgore Hills" last week. We are trying to get them to open it back up now. I'll let you know what happens.

 

Richieroad- i would go with the 'shee. You can make them FAST. I am waiting on my motor to come back from Trinity with the 686 and all the trimmings. I was the only piped raptor in my group for a while and was quite a lot faster. My friend with the 'shee changed carbs and pipes, where i was once 6 quads ahead, he is now 6 ahead of me. 686 on the way, banshee2ky your move.


If the 686 does not cure the speed thing, i plan on building a 'shee to 85 horses.

 

thanks everyone. the banshee was where i was leaning. the mods are endless and easy to get. the zilla would be awesome but you've gotta pay out the waazzoo to get one to start with. two strokes are hard as hell to get to hook up though. guess i would finally have a use for my paddle masters. sorry to hear about kilgore hills. we were gonna come back soon. keep me posted. that raptor is one runnin' machine. it's the fastest at the drag track. but i've been beaten by a freakin' grizzly in brackets. i just can't go out like that. there's no adrenaline rush. i like riding my raptor too much to max it out to the point i can't ride it like i want to. guess i could buy two.haha.

 

iv got a friend with a 600 katana sport bike motor built into a quad and it does 50 in second gear so figure what 6th islke
