I am rebuilding the Top end of my 2000 banshee with new pistons and rings using the Wiseco kit.

My question is: I thought i read in a clymer manual that the ring Thicknesses are different....and one needs to be on the top, and the other on the bottom. My wiseco kit came with rings that measure the same thickness (.038).

Does anyone know if this is correct?? Anyone have a Clymer book handy???

Thanks

i don't know if this applys to the banshee pistons, but some pistons have a tapered ring groove & taperd ring. you find this out when the ring doesn't fit into the groove. simply swaping the rings will fix that situation. i'd suggest calling wiseco's tech support...they could tell ya for sure!!

Yes the rings are suposed to be the same size the clymer was talking about factory yamaha pistons and rings those were different sizes. I am not sure why wiseco decided to make the rings the same size rather than make them two differerent sizes like yamaha did. Hope this helps

When installing the Wiseco rings be sure you put the ( N ) on the rings facing up or they will not seal properly.
