what is a modified endcap exactly?

 

Well a modified end cap is a custom made exhaust piece that bolts onto the stock muffler on a DS in place of the stock end cap. Most other stock mufflers have chambers and baffels throughout the muffler to quiet down and make back presure. On a DS the only restriction in the intire exhaust is at the stock end cap. Where the dual exhaust tubes run inside the muffler and reduce down to a real small diameter.Then are covered by a spark areestor sreen.The Muffler itself is a straight through design. The modified end cap is just a straight through large single outlet(2 1/2 in dia on mine)With no spark arrestor screen and no reduction in the outlet diameter when it gets in the muffler. So it lets the exhaust flow much better. Basically the same thing as a Slip on.
