re: 'no oily residue'

..meant to refer to that tub-o-solvent that's left sitting around after you clean a petro-chem filter. Not to mention the OTHER tub-o-oil you use to treat your filter.

Also..note your:

<< while your there, buy as many rubber gloves as you can...you will need them. >>

None needed with notoil. Skin safe!!

And...

<< The wife will love you for not coming to bed stinking like filter cleaner, thereby giving you some and adding to your clearity of mind for your ride tomorrow. it's a beautiful thing. >>

Wow. You might be in for a REAL treat if you start using Notoil!!

Notoil is a vegetable based oil (vs: petrochem). Can get it in a kit form that includes oil, detergent to clean the filter with, and some rim grease.

As far as the sticky part..after you spray the (clean and dry)filter with their oil, you'll find it R-E-A-L sticky whilst you're kneading the stuff in. (BTW, that soaking/squeezing stuff isn't required. Isn't recommended, neither! You'll make a LOT more power if you don't do that!!)

Try this:

notoil website

They've got test results, reviews and 'stuff'.

They have their own 'brand' of dual-layer foam filters, too. I don't care for them as well as, say...twinair.

I've ridden in so much dust you can't see your nose in front of your face...and go to the coast (dunes) a few times a year. As far as:

<< I have never found so much as a grain of dust in my intake >>

..neither have I.

Cheers!!

Ok people. I sent the wife to my sisters today and had my son remove the pro flow foam filter from her Raptor. Just for information sake. I currently have the Pro design K&N pro flow filter and flange. When I installed the pro flow foam filter onto the K&N flange it will fit over the openings. However (theres always got to ba a however doesn't there. LOL) The pro flow foam is a looser fit before tightening than the K&N filter. The K&N filter fits snug as you put it over the openings on the flange. After tightening the foam filter I was unable to pull it, push it, tweak it off the flange. So see, there is a silver lining. . Upon further inspection of the foam filter I did notice the aluminum inserts inside the filter to hold shape etc did not line up with the holes that connect to the flange perfectly. This will reduce the air flow a touch imo. Between the two filters I prefer the K&N by far for air flow. I do ride in very dusty conditions sometimes and will probably spend the money for the foam filter. It will only be for those conditions as I like the K&N much better. Hope those that asked read this and to any others that were interested.
