OK guys,

I went and looked at a Warrior today.. The man selling it says that it is a 1994.. I believe it is a 1995 model though.. it is identical to this Warrior.

Anyway.. He's asking $2,100 for it.. I went over to ride it today and got to ride it, although it had to be pull started.... The electrical system must be fried.. The lights don't work, the push start doesn't work... Other than that, the four wheeler appeared to be running strongly.. I rode it for about 10 minutes and it seemed to be fine, other than the aforementioned problems..

I'm thinking about getting it.. But I'd like to know what you guys thought it is worth... I have been thinking about offering the man $1,800 or so...

Whaddya think?

THanks

Jeff

I wouldn't got any higher than $1800. Try a lower price then that then see how much lower he will go.

$4999.00 brand new

Kelly Blue book for a 95 warrior in good working condition. To buy from a dealer you might expect to pay $2940.00. Totrade it in you might expect to get $1990.00. He's asking somewhere in between near the low end of KBB. However, the electric start does not work, the lights don't work. A new starter will be at least $250-$300+ and more than likly since the lights don't work you will need a new battery. My guess is you will get tired of pull starting and want to fix these other problems. If you give him $1800.00 and fix the stuff you will still spend $2100.00. I'd offer $1500.00 if you realy think thats whats wrong with it and its in good shape otherwise. Then when your done you will have gotten it for the $1800.00 you were willing to pay. jmo

Well,

I'm not sure if it was the starter or not.. When the bike was in neutral the neutral light didn't light up... The start button simply didn't work... So, I'm not sure if it's the starter or what.. The lights wouldn't come on, etc.. The owner said he just put a brand new battery in it... His son said it just stopped working one day...So I'm pretty sure it's the electrical system..

Although, It's just the first one I've looked at... So i can keep looking...

I've thought about getting a raptor but the thought of driving down the road at 30mph and the tranny locking up and tossing me over the handlebars just doesn't appeal to me... something about that doesn't sound fun

LOL, no, that doesn't sound fun at all. Of all the messages ive read on here ive only seen 1 post that said that happened to them. Theres a chance of that happening on any machine in reality. jmo

P.S. wiring problems can be nightmares.

Yeh, very true.. I guess I need to keep looking... I still need to talk to the bank and see what kind of payments I can get.. The Warrior I could pay cash for.. the raptor I could not.

There is an inline fuse on the old 225 yamaha's that controls the lights an the electric start, might want to take the bike out for another test run , away from the guy an check the fuse, if it's blown there is a spare under the seat of the warrior.Change an if the starter kick's in then you got the problem fixed.Other wise could be expensive..
Lots of good deals out there on quads, just have to keep an eye out..

Ditto on the last post. On the left side of the quad under the rear fender there is a fuse link. You'll see the wires and a large rubber section, pull that apart and the fuse is inside. There is a spare fuse located right under it. I'd just tell him you want to check for corrosion in the wires to see if it was under water or something like that and have a peek at the fuse. Sure it aint exactly honest but it's his responsibility to check out his machine, if he's a dope then tough cookies.

I might have to ride back over to his house and check on that...

The son told me that he has blown a fuse before so, I'm guessing they've checked that.. But i can always check it..

I rode it and my girlfriend told me I looked like a monster on the little thing... I'm 6'3" 250... So, something makes me want the Raptor more and more..

The thing is.. I'm not really into MX.. I will never ride on a track.. I ride trails 100%... So, I'd like to get a great trail bike.. I used to have a Kawasaki 220 Bayou, which is basically ran until it was a smoldering heap. heh... Got my money's worth that's for sure.. and I've been riding my dad's 425 Polaris alot lately.. It's a 2x4 with a winch.. I love that winch.

So what I need is a trail bike.. That can get in some water.. water that can sometimes get fairly deep (2 feet in some places) and not have to worry.. The 425 goes right through that stuff... I don't really want a utility four wheeler though.. A rear rack would be plenty...

I need to read some more about it..

Thanks

Jeff
