I do not have a service manual - yet. Please bear with me.

Does the Raptor have an automatic compression release ? Some kind of cetrifugal deal that dis-engages when the RPMs come up. If so, how do you do a simple compression check ?

oops - let me clarify. I have the tester and use it often on other engines but heard somewhere that the Raptor has an auto compression release. I'm guessing the compression should be in the 120 psi ballpark - correct ?

Yes the Raptor has an automatic compression release. So unless this is disabled, you are gonna get false readings.

The raptor does have a auto compression release. I just put my bike back together a couple of weeks ago Trinity(686 Kit). So you would have to take the entire valve cover off and pin the weights to their outer most position. Reinstall the valve cover, it holds the cam in place, and then do yor compression check.

How do you like your 686 kit? Was service prompt?
