Kill switch?
Loose starter solenoid connection? (Sometimes, wires/connectors shake loose from jumping or crossing rough terrain.)
Nest step; trace wires with help of wiring diagram from manual, or make your own as you go.
Good luck!

I would check the starter switch first, make sure there are no shorts or exposed wires. If thats OK, then I would make sure that when the button is pushed, power is getting to the starter. If it is, the contacts in the starter could be bad. Like a solenoid in a car that engages the starter. Hope this helps.

There are two white relays mounted in a rubber holder on the frame under the left rear fender just forward of the battery box. They can crack, and get moisture in them causing intermittent starting problems like you describe. Put your hand on them as you push the start button, you should feel a definate click. If it is intermittent, try tapping on them while pushing the button. If this gets it to turn over, that is your problem and that relay needs to be replaced.
This happened to me and it took along time to troubleshoot. Good Luck!
