The T-Rex cylinder looks exactly like the FMF. Is it just me or does anyone else think the FMF kit should make way more power? 55hp is still a lot, but not when you consider a good running 370 is in the 60hp range. The FMF is 400cc's. If I'm gonna spend $2000 on a 2 stroke top end I want 65-70 hp minimum. Just a thought.

If you look closely at the Trinity Racing ad in the Feb 2002 issue of Dirt Wheels, you will notice a picture of a Powervalved Banshee engine. Behind the spark plugs, you can see "T-REX" engraved on the cylinder head. Until mintychip pointed it out, I had not noticed that these cylinders look like the cylinders in the FMF 400cc kit. I would like to know how one of these big bore Trinity engines would run. Trinity used to advertise the 570 Banshee kits ($4000) and now they do not. Instead of advertising the 570's they advertise these 530's ($4400). How do they compare performance-wise?

I hear a lot of good things about Trinity's four strokes, they make tons of power and are as reliable as rocks. From what I've heard is that their two strokes, while quite fast are not so reliable. I have no first hand info, maybe others could chime in with the truth.

In 2000, I had my banshee engine reworked by Trinity. I went with a Stage 3 420 Long Rod Kit. I am very impressed with the performance of this engine. As far as reliability, the only thing that seems to wear out are my clutch plates. After a year and a half of hard riding on them, it is about time to change them. This is to be expected. If I decide to build a faster banshee, I'll once again be calling Trinity Racing.

FMF does not make the kit, only sells them. They are made by a company called DASA,formaly Racers Edge. There are plenty of places to buy these kits such as DASA themselve, Advantage Performance or Australia's best ATV accessory shop JMC RACING.(sorry,I could not help getting that plug in)
High peak horsepower numbers are not always better. These kits make huge amounts of torque and mid-range power as well as excellent top end.The power characteristics are also able to be changed with the adjustable exhaust power valves.I feel usable power is much better and easier to ride with.

That's cool that you had good luck with your banshee, they seem to build a lot of those, and to think about it, all the reliability issues were with hondas. Maybe they just know their banshees and the limits of the engine.
