High Compression Piston Reliability
#1
I have 2002 Raptor and have been considering an 11:1 compression piston and cam, but I keep hearing that it will greatly effect the reliably of the engine. The Canondales come with a compression in the 12 range, so why would me going to an 11:1 hurt my reliability?? I want the performance but I don't want to have to tear the engine down every other year.
What is your oppinion on this?? Are we making HP or are we creating a time bomb??

You will have no problems if you maintain, change oil often clean air filter often and get valves adjusted when needed no problem...Get it you will be very glad you did! .......Digger

there is not a reliability issue here.like the feela before me said ,if you maintain your vehicle with a strict regiman.and i mean religiously then you have nothing to worry about.and if you run the high grade 93 +octane fuel it will only help you ,i highly recommend thats all everyone uses in any quad.but i always recommend rebuilding a quad every year even the four strokes.and more frequently for the 2 stroke guys who really rail thier machines. so put the cam in and the piston and go roost.be easy on the break in of both and you should have a long happy life on the quad.
