This is probably a dumb question but I'm new to 2 strokes and looked at a Banshee today and just want to know. What should the engine sound like at idle? Should there be a noise like a rapping noise or almost a diesel engine sounding noise but not very loud? The guy said this is normal for 2 strokes and it was just the compression. It had a compression reading of 130. The sound was heard at idle and as I revved it up you couldn't hear it anymore and couldn't hear it when riding. Is this a normal 2 stroke sound? Thanks for the input.

mid range and top end, like a chain saw. down low, like its bogging. Its mostly sounding like a chain saw, but when you really let em rip it howls.

So this tapping or rapping sound is normal at low rpm?

Your hearing piston slap. If this is a used machine this is part of normal wear and tear. Top ends need to be replaced from time to time. If its not bad it can be rode without problems. If this is a new machine your probably just hearing the piston moving up and down the cylinder and not realy piston slap and no need for concern. Possibly.
