Here's the deal. I have a Banshee which I like a lot but I want something else to ride also. What are you opinion on a good dirtbike motor/atv frame combination. I do mostly trail and woods riding. Appreciate your help.

I'd go with a 250R framed CRF450R motored quad. However, there not a point in spending a ton of money on this when you can get a 400Ex to ride trails and still handle the same with all the power you need for trail riding.

Well if i was going to build somthing i would go 426 and a aftermarket banshee frame. But if you want a trail machine your best off to buy an 02 Raptor. Plenty of power and reverse plus cheaper than building one.

I guess it all depends on how much your willing to spend. If I had the choice I would probably take a 426, bore it into a 440 and bump the compression up one and stick it in a lonestar frame.

dont get a 250R frame. That is soo played out. I hate goin to races and all the quads are the same. Id do the yz426 in a banshee frame. If you really wanted to do something cool then put a snowmobile engine in any frame. A Mxz 500 engine in mabye a banshee or raptor frame would smoke anything!!! period

If I had the money to spend, I would go with a KTM 500, 400, or a Vor 530. You can put the KTM motor in a custom made Walsh Frame, like the one shown in the May issue of Dirtwheels. The Vor motor is also nice, I don't know what frame to use, but I'm sure you could find one. How much are you willing to spend on this, because building a quad up like that gets into the 15,000+ range.

I was actually looking to spend about 5,000 or less. I love my banshee which I use to ride in the woods and trails but I want something a little different from everybody else which means no raptors, 400ex's etc. not that they are not good machines but I see too many of them. I want a good project to work on.

Well with the cash you got i would upgrade the banshee suspension better shocks and then sell the banshee moter and put a 426 motor in your shee. It would be faster than a stock shee plus then you would have good torque. Thats what i would do.

Well, you could try a YZF 426 in one of those LRD aluminum 250R frames but I haven't ever seen an aluminum frame like that one... It looks just as thick as the steel frames (instead of really wide like on the dales and Honda dirtbikes) which makes me question its strength. I think it would be AWESOME to fit a YZF 426 bored to a 440 into a Cannondale frame. Get the C-dale plastics w/ the Quad Tech front "plastic" (it's actually a scooped fiberglass hood) w/ +3 Walsh A-arms, +4 RPM axle, carbon fiber wheels all around w/ grooved tamers on back and radials up front, Elka Triple rate shocks all around, quad tech seat cover, maybe a Yosh exhaust, polished frame to look like chrome, lots and lots of carbon fiber... sorry, I'm thinkin of a MX machine, I think I"m WWWAAAAAAYYYYYYY over $5,000 now and I didn't even finish listing all the things I would want to put on that quad.

Well, that was the basics of "the perfect MX machine" IMO.
