2002 Banshee, 24:1 or 32:1?
#1
I know the manual calls for a 24:1 premix ratio, but it seems to be smoking a lot and I have already fouled out one plug in just over one week of ownership. The parts guy at the shop I bought the quad from said to try mixing it to a 32:1 ratio but I don't wanna burn anything up.
That is the only problem I am having with my banshee. My friend however also bought a new banshee at the same time and place I did and saturday his quad just had no power. If you push the throttle it takes a bit to get it revved up. I don't know if maybe the shop put the wrong jets in for the temperature or what.
Both these things happened at the same time. We were on a track and my quad and his both started doing the above. I guess we should take them back and see if everything is adjusted right.

If you are running any kind of modern day oil, you can run it at 32:1, or even 40:1
The synthetic oils are much better than regular oils. They help the quad to run cooler, and really reduce friction.
Your jetting will also make a HUGE difference on how the quad performs!

I have run 32:1 in my Banshee ever since I bought it in 98. It has been rebuilt once, but only because I wanted more power. I have run this ratio in my hopped up engine without any failures in two years.
I don't know how long you've had you're quad, but watch your air filter. If you wash the quad, be careful not to get water in your air filter. It will make your Banshee run terribly. Just an idea because it happened to me.
