Yosh jetting questions??? again
#1
Well I now have the yosh full comp system. I have the K&N stage 2 jet kit at all the recommended spec and have the mains at 148 and 150 which art the biggest in the kit. It now runs lean with no lid and a little rich with the lid. I am out of mains and would like to run no lid. Do you think changing the needle a little richer and running with no lid will work? Or should I try to cut some holes in the lid and leave jetting alone, whic would be easier to dial in??? Any help would be great.

That would depend on where you ride. Personnaly I have used the Univent breather plugs because it's pretty wet the places that I ride. You don't want to be sucking up water. If your not familiar with the plugs I have some pictures of them on my photos page.

Well I ride where I can get away with no lid, so that is the way i would like it... Now for an update on the plug condition...I let it idle to run the bowls out of fuel and checked the plug and it is perfect when idling! ran with the lid full throttle and the whole plug was turning black, then run with no lid and at full throttle kill it and the plug is almost all white again, just a hint of tan, but not enough. so the problem is for sure on the top end of the revs. I have no more mains with out ordering them, so I think I am going to have to try the needle, do I have to run all of those spacer on the needle, what is their purpose? I think i am going to try to go a clip position richer, do u think that will work so i can run no lid?
thanks

Hey RaptorRidr,
I worked on mine all day yesterday. I stripped everything down and started by changing the oil and adjusting the valves. Then I installed the full Yosh system. Next I put the dynojet stage 2 kit with 148 and 150 mains and clip in 4th position. I then cut all the excess plastic out of the stock airbox and installed the Pro Flow kit with a K&N Filter. I am Running it without the lid. I ran it for a few minutes in the hills by my house and DANG!!! This thing rips now. I didn't check the plug for color. I will next time since you tell me you are running lean on the top end with the same setup. If you are running lean from 3/4 to full throttle, I would go up another size in jets. Do you get any stumble or hesitation in your bike at any point. Mine does not seem to have any stumble and it continually pulls. My pipes never turned blue, but I didn't run it very long. My pipes stayed a nice gold tone. I'll let you know next weekend what the plug looks like. Keep posting on how it is going.

it seems to lack a little on the top, runs great other then that, I am going to try and get a 155 main and try a 150/155 combo, that may do it for me! I hope anyways

what else do u have done disturbed??? Any airbox mods or filter, needle different, let me know, maybe i will pull the jet kit and go back to mikuni. i really think that it would be worse with the stock needles though.
