I purchased my Raptor new in March and am now ready to start putting some accesiories on it. All that it has now is an aluminum skid plate. Since I spend much of my riding time hurdling it through the air over my jumps or anything else that I can find that resembles a jump I figured I should first look for some good shocks. Elka? Works? or what else is a good shock for a good deal? Just looking for fronts right now. Can I get good front shocks for under $500? I do not need anthing real fancy, just something that will hold up to the abuse. Any other "must have" accesiories for the Raptor? Thanks for any help.

Get Works dual or triple rates w/ no cans and your good to go. Not the best set up, but a vast improvement over stock and you don't have to go broke....

I have some decent aftermarket shocks I'll sell cheap. They're built by Fox are dual rate and ride really nice. they have more travel than the stockers and ride nice, I'll sell them for $250 delivered. I have pics as well.

Works performance shocks are all you will find for under five hundred. If you spend $595 you can get a pair of raptor PEP triple rate fronts with cans that way outperform the works. But I can't bad mouth the works because I haven't owned them.

the Works are sounding pretty good to me, is the stock rear shock on the Raptor any good?

The stock rear is pretty good as is but it can also be reworked by some of the shock manufacturers

your getting a lot of good info on this thread but nobodys addressing one of the raptors downfalls...its tippy due to its high center of gravity and ride height
if you spend a little extra $ you can get some tcs or pep which will allow you to lower your raptors ride height a couple of inches and make a dramatic improvement on your quads handling
tcs also does a rework on your rear for 450.00 which will match everything
works stadium series are a zero preload shock as well but are designed more for the track than trail riding.

You can order Works shocks from Works directly and choose your own springs and zero preload for no extra dough. Dual-rate on the Raptor works best 'cause they aren't long enough to get a good triple stack.
Steelers are cheap, and you can add rezzies later. $329 for dual-rates, I believe. The 175lb mainsprings with 2.8" 240lb helpers work great on our Raptor. The 2.8" 240 lb helper will give you sag and a smooth ride.
.Then get a durablue or better rear axle. Works will rebuild the Raptor rear shock for $175. If you think you need it.
