i have an 01 kodiak and it wont start. i have done everything to get it to start. when you push the start button it sounds like it has no compression. my friend says i blew a piston, but i am not sure. if i did blow a piston how much does it cost to get it fixed?

Dude,

Need more info:

What have you done to get it to start?
What sound is it making to convince you that you 'blew a piston'?
What happened to the quad before this problem? (No oil, no oil changes, bad gas, submarined it, etc?)

I agree with rennym, more info needed.

4 strokes don't realy blow a piston. Many things can cause low compression, like valve adjustment is the #1 thing that gets most poeple. Or lack of valve adjustments cupping the valve untill it braeks or doesn't seat any more.

If you splashed some water in her while it was hot, ring siezer is common. Most cases the piston can be saved and just new rings needed.

To answer your question about $80 to $120 for nerly all piston kits.
