hey all,
Well, i finally got to go offroading with my new mods,( snorkle, heat reduction, opened exhaust, so on...)
it was 85 here in michigan, and opening up the side panels is worth every bit of cutting!!! i just felt the heat excape, and when going through the deeper water, i felt the steam roll out. my fan works half as much as it used to, and riding it hard felt better just knowing the heat was being released!
the snorkle job i did on my belt system worked like a charm! trust me, i tested it real good too. put it to the racks in water, went back and forth, and even tried to get it stuck in some real slimy mud. no such luck, the darn thing just kept making it through, lmao!!!
cutting the plastic around the rear fenders has worked great for me. i dont rub anymore, and jumping is smoother without all the scraping i used to get!
opening up the exhaust has made a great differance from out of the hole. it just feels more powerful from the start. i still havent tested it opened up, due to a lack of open space, but to 50 it is real good!
i adjusted my valves, and it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. it took me 2 hours, start to finish. they aren't so easy to get adjusted, then retourke, and keep them the same adjustment. the exhaust valves are not easy to get to, but its doable without taking off the front clip. word of warning to all who havent done theres. all mine were tight!!! the 3 intake were real tight, and had to be backed off a bit. the exhaust were borderline too tight. i waited till i had 55 hours on mine to do them, i waited too long. i recommend doing them at 20 hours like required by the manual.
