I've been doing wheelies for the past 2 days and finally got the hang of it and am getting good with them. Is there any tips anybody can offer me? I have a blaster that's basically all stock excepts the tires(blackwater).

I tried doing wheelies from a dead stop and it seems to be working the best. If anybody can offer some tips for me, that would be cool.

RockyLou- You just have to find that balance point. That's where the quad is just about to tip backwards or forwards. It's a little bit higher than you think, but when you find it you will notice it takes very little gas to keep it up. A balance wheelie is easier to ride for a long time. A power wheelie lasts until the power runs out. I would practice wheelies up hill that way you won't pick up as much speed and need to shift to the next gear as soon. Try second gear for the best up hill wheelies to start out and once you get it up in the air, don't forget to keep your foot on the rear brake pedal to keep you from going over. Good Luck!!

Rodsquad - how about teaching this old man how to do it at the get together on the 29th at Marks??? Maybe you could teach me on your new Z400 so I won't mess up my Raptor plastic...

Hi Raptorrider. The one thing that can't be replaced on the Z400 is the rear grab bar. It's one and the same with the sub frame, so we'll just have to practice on yours. Don't worry, I have a set of blue fac. plastic left over from my past Raptors you can buy CHEAP. Chris was pretty rad wheelying down the dragstrip at 14mins from 1st to 5th!

Chris is an awsome rider! I should have gotten lessons from him while we were at the dunes last weekend and maybe I wouldn't break as easily in the sand. I ended up selling the paddles to Rex while out there. Looking forward to seeing you on the 29th.

i also have a blaster but i have mud tires and a fmf fatty pipe and a power core 11 silencer on mine. so i will give ya some good advice. to do long wheelies don't sit down on the bike, i bend my right leg so you right knee is about where you sit and your right foot is against the grab bar. and you just shift with you left leg while your kinda standing on it but even out your weight.

if you want to just do a regular wheelie just drop the clutch and let her rip. thats what i do but i also have a fmf fatty pipe and power core 11 silencer on mine (which makes a huge difference in torque) so i'm not sure how good that will work.

good luck,

well i can ride a long wheelie and this is how i learned.I started doing them on the road where it is smooth and you can really feel the bike.i can ride them sitting down and standing up heck even standing on the seat.the way i learned was standing up.i would start the wheelie in around 4th gear that way i wouldn't have to shift this made it a little easier so you can just focus on the wheelie.check back tire pressures make sure both tires are close to even so it doesn't pull to one side.the trick is on the road you can kinda steer your bike from side to side.when you get going fast enough turn the front wheels the way you want to go just the wind hitting them will make your bike start going that way its weird how it works but it does.the balance point i aggree with its a little higher up then you think and its kinda scary at first because you feel you are going to go over backwards.when your there you shouldn't have to give it alot of throttle and shouldn't be picking up to much rpm unless your going downhill if you are your powering it.as for shifting i one finger the clutch and do it quick not to get on the gas to hard after i shifted for this will put you looking at the sky lol.standing is harder to shift so i don't normally shift i just start in 4th gear.you can also start sitting down get in the gear you want and then stand up it all just takes getting use to and practice.don,t be scared to put it on the grab bar if you do just hit the rear break if you can and set it back down.
