Hello out there in yamaha land, is any body using the hot cams? Stage one or two? What do you think of them?..........

Any comments will be appreciated.....

 

Just thought I'd bump this one up. I'm also interested in the stage 1 setup. I could drop in the hotcam and a 11:1 piston for about $250ish. I'm wondering if that lil bit would give me the edge against a couple of buddies banshee's I'm neck n neck with. Anyone with input?

 

Hotcams seem to be really good...

They are also new, not regrinds or hardwelds - which means no core charge and you don't get a smaller base circle...

Plus, at least for the Honda's, they are cheaper than the competition. It's about time someone does something other than overcharging for a regrind.

 

Yes, thats good news Gabe. I personally don't like the re-grind deal....even if the end product is "supposed" to be as good.
mr45auto......you have to include springs too. Have you installed a degree key yet?

 

No degree key, I've heard mixed reviews and I plan to go with a 686 bore anyhow. Sparks doesnt reccomend it on higher compression motors. I figured on replacing springs. Once again Sparks seems to have the best price on those.

 

Well the 686 will certainly get you out in front of the guys you are running closely with now! The degree key does work on stock compression....if installed correct. I'll take all the easy power I can get!

Where can you purchase Hot Cams from? Do they have a web site? I have been looking around for piston/cam/ springs and right now looks like Trinity's cam is who I am going to use, but I have never heard of Hot Cams before.

 

Bodezafa....a degree key advances engine timing. It simply replaces the stock woodruff key on the crankshaft. Pro's = cheap, small increase in power. Con's = have to remove the sidecase cover and flywheel with a puller. I changed mine when my 1-way starter bearing went out.....since I was already in there.

 

So they are a pain in the a$$ to install.
What are the HP gains??
