The idle is really inconsistent on my 01 Raptor. It does not seem to want to return to a normal idle - it kinda "hangs up" at a high idle after releasing the throttle. I'm guessing the problem is in the cable / idle adjuster but was wondering if anybody else has had this issue and what you did to correct it.

Thanks

Not sure why but my raptor does the same thing but after 10-15 seconds the idle will lower. It's not a real high rev but a higher than normal rev. Never seemed to be much of a problem and now I don't even notice it. Who knows it might suppose to do that.

Sorry, if I wasn't much help.

If throttle cable action is fine (you can hear a click when the throttle is depreced), then the choke is hanging. OR, you have a vacuum leak.....blew the carbs off lately?

check the cable, make sure the idle doesnt change when you swing the handle bars from side to side, or your cable may need to be lubed or replaced

Vraptor,

When I crank the bars hard right the idle increases noticably. Sounds like a cable lube is due. Any suggestions ?? Should I shoot some WD-40 down the cable from inside the thumb throttle enclosure ? How about opening the "idle ajustment box" thing ?

I'm at work now so I can't open things up for a look and I'm looking for a good starting point when I get outta here !

Thanks

When you move your bars & it increaces the idle you most likley have your cable binding on something. check your cable routing & make sure it's not hanging on any thing & lube it also.

My 02 Raptor just recently started doing that, but only because the damn thing it too frickin narrow, and I tipped it over on the right side. I thing I screwed up the cable a little bit. Going to go work on it in a little bit, let you know if I fix it.
