I have a 1998 wolverine. Anytime I ride slow or let it idle for more than a few minutes it starts getting hot. When i get on the gas and try to open it up, it starts bogging down and has no power. If i shut it off and let it cool down, it runs ok. I change oil often(20w50) and keep air filter clean. The valve clearance has been checked and its ok. Any one have this problem with their wolverine or know what it is?

thanx,
chuck

Any aftermarket parts, like a filter or a pipe? sounds like it is running lean, which could cause overheating. Does it start/idle good? another thing to check is the rubber/metal mount for the carb to the motor, these can develop a hole, leaning out the engine, and cause heat and poor performance. Has the oil temp light ever come on? if it is getting hot, the red light should come on,but it has to be very hot.Mine has only come on once in all the years I've owned mine, when the motor was still new and tight. I hope some of this is helpful.
