i adjusted my valves on my raptor to spec and i notice when im lugging in a gear and give it alot of gas it sounds like a 4 cylinder car going up a hill with cheap gas in it. is this normal or could this be one of my valves off or something. it clears out when i get up in rpm and it is only doing it lugging up a hill.

What do you mean it sounds like a 4 cylinder on cheap gas? Is it pinging?

I would try the 2 3/4 turn first and if that dosent fix it go the full three.

Rob, I have the same problem when I ride at altitude without jetting down. You may have over oiled your filter or too large of main jets. Is your lid on or off. What main jets are you running? What needle position?

What fuel are you using? You may want to try another brand and higher octane level. Bad gas and/or low octane can cause pinging as well!

Swytak is right on with his opinion. Pinging from your valves is from predetonation in your cylinder due to the gas being vaporized due to the exteme heat. The predetonation is going on while your intake valves are still open. Higher octane gas burns cooler and usually stops predetonation which allows your intake valves to close and proper detonation can take place.
