After getting my a$$ handed to me numerous times last weekend in aledo i have decided to sell mr. roboto and go two stroke. I am looking at both suzuki and honda's 250's and the quadzilla, if you are worried about experience well i have plenty of it. I can drive about anything on wheels. The thing is I dont really see the big diff. between the suzuki and the honda besides plastic. I have heard that the 250's run about 70 and the quadzilla runs about 80. They are all around the same price. I am about 6'1 215 do yall think the 250's would be to small? The ds and the raptor are not totally out of the question either.

Well if you claim to have experience then you would not even be thinking about buying a Suzuki LT250 or LT500 over a 250R Honda.
The one thing the Suzuki LT 500 is good for is sand duning.
The only thing the Suzuki LT250 is good for is flat tracking.
The 250R Honda is good all around and not much beats it on a MX track.
If I was going racing MX tomorrow I would get a Cannondale Moto 440,Suzuki Z400,Kawasaki KXF 400.
These are current models and have factory support,Let alone your not racing on something that is almost 15 years old.
If I was going flat track racing or drag racing I would look at a DS 650,Banshee,400EX,Suzuki 400, Kawasaki 400,Cannondale Speed Or Raptor
Honda gave up on the 250R in 1989 and the aftermarket has been carrying it along ever since.
As for building a Raptor or DS I hope you have deep pockets Because these Machines stock are not made for ANY type of racing.
The Cannondale Is made specifically for RACING.

Most of the riding I do is wide open flat land w/ terraces every now and then to jump. I visit the local track about once a month, but i do mostly wide open riding thats why I was considering the ds I will most likely shoot for the quadzilla though.

I myself would go with the "Raptor" or the DS, but this is coming from a 4-stroke guy so take it for what its worth. I myself prefer to buy machines that are still in production (for the convenience).

Make sure you research your choice well !
The Quadzilla is a heavy beast and tends to blow the crank and bearing out of the bottom of the motor, Destroying both case halves.
I'm pretty sure there is a compnay out there somewhere that has a fix for it.Check with Trinity Racing.
There was also a reason why the Quadzilla did not last long on the market,
It's very hard to keep a 500cc two stroke from vibrating itself to death.
Check the background on this quad very well and know what you are getting yourself into.
I have had 3 friends with these before and they were like Harley's, ride them 10 minutes fix them for 20.
Good Luck

Thanks for all your help everyone, I have done and will do alot of research b4 I buy anything. I have done a few searches on here and it seems like the main prob. is the main bearings in the quadzilla on the 87 model. Is there any way to tell from a picture if they have been replaced?

If I rode wide open spaces I think I would probably go with the DS 650...That's just me though. I think the results from Aledo prove this quads potential.

I love my banshees but I noticed you didn't ask about them. There is probably more aftermarket banshee parts than 250R. I am 6'1" 270lbs and my LT250 isn't too small. However, I would take a 250R over the choppy suspensioned LT anyday.
Raptor690 is on the money.

Looks like your decision will be a 2stroke, so find the best deal. I don't know if you ruled out the Banshee, but it's a very capable machine. Also, with the release of this Predator....it might raise your curiousity, because it sure got me interested. One thing I've learned about atvs is that you can sink plenty of cash into them for speed, handling, power, etc.
