i have a few questions about installing an aftermarket performance kit on my grizzly. i recently purchased the clutch kit and will install it next weekend. have any of you undertaken this task, and if so, how did your bike respond? i am also looking at the k&n high performance kit with the supertrapp pipe from highlifter. i am already running 57 mph top end (according to speedo) which is plenty for me, but i am looking for more bottom end and midrange acceleration (not that the grizzly lacks any). will this kit do the trick? also, i plan on sticking with oem size tires, or maybe just go up an inch. will installing a performance kit degrade the life of my engine? also, i ride in southern louisiana (gets HOT) and have not experienced any of the grizzly's notorious overheating problems, but i was wondering if the increased air/fuel flow would cause the engine to run hotter? are there any additional periodic/preventative maintenance considerations? any and all answers would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, it seems like I've answered this question a million times now, but I know how frustrating it was when I undertook the same mods a few weeks ago and couldn't get anyone to answer my questions, so here's my easy way out. Go to Highlifter and then go to their forums. Inside their forums go to "Tech Questions and Answers" and then look for the post titled "Clutch and Twin Pipes for a Grizz" posted by GRIZZMASTER. Read my answer regarding the clutch kit there. Any other questions you may have about the clutch just email me and I'll help all I can. I have no answers regarding jet kits or pipes as those are the same quetions I have that no one will answer for me. When I get those answers figured out myself, I'll let you know, but I think I'm going to buy tires first, so don't wait for me.

thanks for the reply. the main question that i am looking for an answer to is what are the downsides of installing the highlifter power kit. any techies out there that can help with this please reply. it doesn't have to be grizzly specific. if anyone has ever had performance mods done on their bike and experienced any adverse affects, i.e. decreased engine life, overheating probs, more periodic maintenace, etc, please give me a shout and let me know. thanks

So far all my mods have worked flawlessly. The only problem I have had though is the lift kit. With it installed I put more strain on my CV boots and caused them to make a rubbing noise every time I hit a bump. As for a overheating, the best ways to over come this is by lifting the oil cooler( which yours is already done), having a switch to turn on the fan automaticly, and choosing a bigger fan. This will help you out greatly.
