How deep of water and mud are you talking about?? The wolverine does great in water up to its fenders, but then it starts to float and wallow around a bit. As far as deep mud goes, I'd say that all depends on your tires. The stock tires do okay in stuff that goes up to the lower frame rail, but then it gets a little questionable. Where the wolverine really shines is with how well it handles on the trails. You can keep up with the sport bikes on the trails, and never worry about ground clearance. It's a little heavy for jumping, but it will handle 5 feet of air if you land it right. I had a 98 wolverine for 4 years, and never had a problem with it.

and they also lowered the price this year by like 4 or 500 bucks, and all they did was take the front rack off, this is something they should have done a few years back, pretty good deal now i would say,if thats your price range, the wolverine is one of the best all around trail bikes out there, deep mud i would stay away from though, but the wolverine is plenty light enough to pull out without much problem,if you plan on doing alot of mudding i would get 25 inch tires, the usuall power up mods and maybe even the big bear first gear

As far as water a wolverine is fine right up to the seat as long as you do not go deeper than the snorkel. I do a lot of water riding on mine and even have a drilled airbox. When I get to the river I tape the holes closed with radiator tape and never had a problem. You can check it out on MY SITE Make sure to check out the photo pages. Ty

it's a great bike.. in my opinion, not a great mud bike... It does ok, but you really need tires. The stock 23" tires leave you high centered alot (main reason I would get stuck) I also feel that first gear wasn't low enough. I would have to rev and pop it into first sometimes to get the tires spinning in heavy mud.

Overall, great bike. Mine has been trouble free since April 99. It is for sale now, got a grizz 660 and eyeballing a Raptor
