Banshee Mods whats the best bang for the buck?
#1
I have a 96 Banshee and it was stock except for the K&N filter. I just put on a set of used Trinity Stage4 pipes and WOW what a differance, I got them for 225.00 that was with jetting. I also had the carb tops removed because the threads stripped out on them. What would be my next step up in power? I am thinking porting and polishing but need some advice on this. Will this be the next big step?

A port and polish job will help alot. Weld your crank and get a cool head with smaller domes will also help. You can do it stock, but dont go to radical. To much compression will spin your crank out of time and you will be up a creek. Alot depends on what your use is going to be. If your building a drag machine or hill shooter, you might want to look into a stroker kit, or even going with just a long rod kit from one of the reputable engine builders. There are a million things you can do with a banshee.
Good luck.

The turbo is the way to go. Fuel injection, and a kit that bolts onto a stock motor in under 2 hours, with a warranty and a guarantee of at least 135 horsepower. At 5600$ in the long run its bargain, none of the headaches of a tweaked motor.

Well, the cost is about $300.00, and that includes
the cost of the domes. The amount of power increase will differ depending on the domes you use. I myself use the 20cc domes for 1 main reason, and that is i DON"T have to run race fuel if I don't want too. I have been told that anything smaller than the 20cc domes requires race fuel for optimum performance. You will notice a big difference in the throttle response, and you would not believe how much cooler the engine stays. Remember... HEAT WILL TAKE AWAY YOUR
HORSEPOWER!!! I have mounted a temp gauge on my banshee to moniter the heat, mainly when i didn't have the head on. It would usually end up in the 190 degrees +or- range, and then start boiling over. I have never even seen 180 since i installed the head. In my opinion, it is one of the best bolt on performance item that money can
buy right now. You can see a picture of my Banshee on the Toomey web page. I am Travis Martin. Feel free to email me if you have any more
questions. Travis

I have FMF torque plus pipes and a Coolhead with 21cc domes. It has been a stronge running machine for the dollars involved. I recently built up one for a buddy of mine. We put 19cc domes with Pro Circuits new pipes. We both run premium gas 91-92 octane. Total cost under $800. If you do it yourself like I do.
