I have had my '02 Big Bear 400 4X2 for about 3 weeks so far. It has 50 miles on it. The 2nd day I had it out, one of the front tie rods broke off the nuckle on the hub assembly. One dealer said it was my fault (I had only been riding easy on forrest roads doing the engine break in)and would not cover it. I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and they appologized and covered it under warranty, and gave me a new wheel and break assembly. Now I have it fixed and I noticed the right front headlight has burnt out. Where do I go to get a bulb for this? How much does the bulb cost? I just thought I would share my experience, I hope this quad gets a lot more reliable!

The tie rod may indeed have been defective, glad your one dealer helped(even under sever abuse a tie rod shouldn't let go unless it's about to tear the whole A arm off the frame)... On the light I'm not sure about the Big Bears light switch but leaving some yami switches in the middle where high and low are on at the same time is a way to roast bulbs in a hurry.

For the headlight bulb you could try taking it out and going to an auto parts store and find one its probably just a small 30-watt bulb, but you could always just go to the dealer they'd have one most likely.

I checked at Napa and Schucks and they did not have any lights that will fit. I called the local yamaha dealer (the one that didnt want to cover my warranty work)they told me that they had no stock ones in stock, but have some after market halogen bulbs? They are like $20, are these any brighter then the krypton bulbs? thanks for the help.

I'm not sure if one is brighter than the other or not but I found where you can order a stock replacement bulb online its like $10
and shipping probably wouldnt be much but it might be easier to get the ones from the dealer. here is the website World of Powersports
