I've rode some friends of mines Raptors quite a bit in the woods and after one of them added a pipe and modded the airbox you couldn't keep the frontend down on the trails. He actually geared his higher and made it more rideable and fun in the woods. And added quite a bit to his topend or at least it feels like it. I geared the Z down and it feels like it would only run about 60 to 63 wfo. His Raptor feels like it's close to 80 with the higher gearing.

Junk the stock Dunlops. Razrs or Holeshots let the tires spin and slide much better in the woods and can really save your a__ when climbing steep hills.

badchad- I hear the hot set up for MX is +3/+1 arms & +1 on the swingarm.

I definatly agree with you RaptorRyan, the Raptor needs to be wider front and back. I would really like to get a Laeger Pro-trax front setup for it. That would be sweet, but a tad bit expensive. Right now I'm not trying to build mine to be a high dollar quad, but eventually will probably set it up right. I'm just hoping to hear from someone who has set up their quad and how well it does.

Hey Badchad,Sorry to jump in your post.I raced in New Iberia and in Brough Bridge before. We need to get together some time to ride.

There will be an all four wheeler race in Fernwood MS. on Sept 14,
We shure could use another quad there. There will be several diferent classes for you to choose from and lots of good people to talk to about setting your quad up.Hope to see ya around, later.

special, thanks for the info on Fernwood. I used to race there myself in the late '80's on my Quadracer. I haven't been there since then other than at their hospital 5 years ago to get patched up for breaking my leg while racing in Liberty!
I'd like to make a trip down there sometime again to check out the track. Have you been to the track in Hammond? I went there about a year in a half ago.......it's been that long since I've been into actually racing unfortunatly!
I haven't been to the track in Breaux Bridge in about a year either, but it was nice the last time I went there. I'm fortunate enough to live only a few minutes from Down South in New Iberia and have been there only a few times lately. I'm trying to get back to the racing scene more now. I just don't remember this stuff being so painful when I was younger.

Fernwood was a nice track back when I used to race it. I would go there on a regular basis back then. It didn't have many large jumps back then either.
