j hooks ?

I just wanted to see if anyone can provide a picture of the Early model Banshee front end assembly with what they called J-hooks a-arms or tell me about them . I was riding Hondas back then so I dont remember what they were . This may be a strange question but I want to know more about them . what they looked like , why they failed , etc. Thanks in advance .

Yeah, you are reffering to "J-Arms". They basically look just like the regular A-Arms except the upper A-Arm is shaped more like the letter "J". Anyway, here is a pic courtesy of The Banshee Zone.

I am not an expert on them, but I have heard that the J-Arm's are slightly weaker than the A-Arms. However, if you aren't a MX Racer I'm sure you'll be all set.
One other thing to remember...I'm not sure if you know, but the actual frame is different on the J-Arm Banshee's. You can't simply bolt A-Arms on them...it requires some welding and modifying. With that said, I suppose you can't bolt J-Arms on an A-Arm frame either.
I have only had experience with a couple of J-Arm Banshee's. My buddy owned one, but it was the first one I had ever driven so I didn't have anything to compare it to.
Another friend was looking at one this summer and it had J-Arms. When I sat on it, it felt much stiffer than mine. You could litterally get on the Banshee and rock it side to side and the shocks would barely compress before the tires came off the ground. Felt a lot different than mine. However, let me point out that this could have been caused by a lot of things so I'm not saying it was the J-Arms for sure...Just something I noticed and thought I would share.
Also, I believe they made the J-Arms through 1991. The A-Arms came out in 1992.

Oops...I was wrong. It appears that The 1991 Banshee's had A-Arms. The 1990 Banshee's had J-Arms though.
I found this info by looking at the microfiche at www.ronnies.com so it should be correct.
