Recently purchased an'01 Raptor. I Looking to change the oil for the first time since I got it. The original owner was running Elf brand synthetic oil. It's my understanding Elf no longer makes that oil?? Don't know, did'nt reasearch it myself. However, without creating a stir about oil brands, does anyone have recommendations on what type to run. Also is there anything I need to know about changing the oil? Tips, tricks, etc.

As long as you stay with synthetic, you will be okay. I personally like the Castrol V-twin FULL synthetic. This oil is awesome. It was designed for big V-twin street bikes. I have ran it in 4 different bikes (1 street, 1 dirt, and 2 atvs), with pump, race gas, and alky. I have rode all combinations in freezing and in 95+ degree weather, and have yet to have this oil break down. When I pull an engine apart that I have ran this in, it looks clean and have yet to see any wear. I haven't had any clutch problems. I have also yet to find a dealer that stocks it though. I end up ordering it.
