I am debating between the Grizzly 660 and the Prarie 650. The Grizzly would appear to be the complete package with everything the Prarie has but with Independent suspension. However, all of the articles rate the Prarie over the Grizzly. Does anyone have experience with both? What does the Grizzly lack that keeps it from being the best out there?

The only disadvantage of the Grizzly is that when you want to switch to 4x4 you have to stop where the Prarie can switch on the fly. But I've heard of the prarie taking like 30sec to click into 4x4 where the grizzly does it the second you put it in.

If it was me i'd go with the Grizzly I don't know why, but I think it's better built, and my experiences with yamaha were good.

I was just at a 300' dirt drag and the prarie was running down stock 400ex's so I would go with the prarie even though I am a Yamaha man.

3TV,

what is the outcome of a drag with the P650 and the raptor? I have heard "stories" that it is a pretty close race for the first 50 yards then the Raptor will fly by. I have also heard "stories" that a slightly modified P650 will give a Raptor a good race (drag race)

I figured you own both quads so its likely you've raced them....

I test drove both the Griz and the Prairie and fell in love with the Prairie. The Griz is a sweet machine, but ya have to test em to see what is going to be best for ya.

As of right now I would have to say go with the prarie because I had poor luck with my grissly. But if it all did work like it was suppost to then i would say its a good bike.

One thing is that even though yamaha says dont engage 4wd well at speed. I have been doing it and never had a problem on both the grissly and kodiak ultra.

The griss also has a good engine but i find it rought compaired to the prarie which is very smooth.

I would also look at the Quest 650, I bought one and perfer it to both bikes. It seems to have more get up and go then both bikes and gps proves it faster then the 660 Grissly. IMO its also built way better.

But thats my opinion so good luck in your choice.
