Hey guys. I have an old 87 Shee thats fast, but I kinda want to make it faster. Right now I believe it has Keihin 28mm PWK carbs on it that is bored out to a 29mm. I do alot of fast riding with some drag races and trails. Is what on there now OK for me? I was also thinking of getting some Toomey t-5s. Is there a significant performance gain with these pipes? I was also thinking of FmF or the CPI inframe drag pipes. Im just not sure which would be the best. My price limit is about 600 bucks. I dont care if the bottom end sucks (drag pipes) because I can just always shift down and ride in the power band while in trails. Does anyone have any used pipes they want to sell? What else than pipes or carbs can make this faster? It has some port work, but nothing radical. The guy I bought it from never really specified how much was done, he just said nothing huge. I was thinking of getting the head milled down too. Does this help?

Thanks for whoever responds.

Get it ported and polished by this place called Mission Yamaha in So Cal or go to my favorite place which is Trinity and get u the Toomey's so u can have one sweet sounding shee and you'll get a but load of top end power.Be sure to change the stock pistons cause if u don't your looking for trouble so get some Wiseco pistons or from another comp.

Since it sounds like you have stock pipes, I would definately pipe it. I have the toomeys and they are a great pipe. I think you get a little more power with cpi, but there customer service is not great and getting the pipes can be a hassle.

Then porting would be the next biggest gain most likely. But shop around and talk to people. Check out bansheehq.com also.

You will want to add:
Pipes.
K&N airfilter.
Delta-V-Force reeds.
Shaved head (the quads, not yours)
Port job by a reputable shop. Do a lot of research before picking one.
Advance the timing.
Use Av-Gas, or race-gas.
Re-jet!

As far as shaving the head goes, you can also get a cool head with interchangeable domes to adjust compression to your riding style, and whether or not you want to run pump, or race-gas.

Alright guys, thanks for the help. But let me elaborate on what I got here. I already got a few things that you mentioned. I have pipes, but they are DG and i know they are harsh crap, so I am thinking CPI in frames or Toomeys. I already have some port work done and really dont wish to have any more done. If I was going to get any head, it would be a trinity stage 4 pro. I already have a uni filter, and I've read that uni and k&n dont have any performance difference. How do I advance the timing? Do I need a timing plate? I was also going to order a "sure shift" from trinity and maybe instead of buying their head, have them do some work on mine. Then buy either t-5s or CPI in frames. My quad already smokes everything in my area, but you can never have to much power. I am also thinking of adding one or two teeth on the front sprocket to gain some top end. Thanks for all of the help!

Ok if u want it to run faster, get the toomey t-5's and put the best jet to match the pipe with the mods in. get a toomey 2 into one filter system and elimintate the airbox. or in my preference get 2 K&N's wit outerwears to come rite off the carbs. Look into a set of new domes for the head they help alot. T-5's are awsome, but ide can that uni filter. What about a boost bottle u tried one of those yet???? Tried running a hotter plug than the B9??? we run a B8 or even a B7 they really help. After pipes, filter, jet alone it overheats we have a toomey racing radiator and a pro design high flow water pump impeller. O yeah get a degree key from vito's or get the timing plate. Dont Forgett a really good set of reeds and and a set of reed spacers. Wanna spend the extra jack get the pro design intakes wit boost bottle and hook up a set of 34mm carbs on it.

Later

Pipes, have the head shaved .030 (pump gas ok) by a reputable machine shop that has shaved a banshee head before, and add a drag timing key. I had a head shaved by Majic Racing in Mi and would recommend them.
