Thats some funny azz sheit micheal.

I was at Pismo a week and a half ago. There was a guy on a 400 ex. He lined up with me and my brother at the drags. We thought, ok another easy win, me on my Raptor him on his DS. We took off, both of us had the lead, shifted into 3rd and zoom zoom zoom the EX went right on by us.

He claims all he had done to his quad was install an HRC HCR?? cam. Cut open the muffler at the base, cut out the s curve of the pipe entering it and weld the muffler back together. That allowed the exaughst to dump into the muffler housing and exit the rear of the muffler.

I for one don't believe him. He had to have had a 440 kit in it. His muffler was welded back together.

Opening up the muffler and installing a cam will not gain that much on a 400ex. All other piped and jetted EX's out there were 5-6+ lengths behind after 4-600' races. This guy was ahead by 3-4. But hey, if thats all it takes to make the 400ex that fast all the more power to em. If it were that easy I think more people would be doing it. JMO

Riderman.

He said the pipe entering the muffler went to the end and back and then back to the end and out the hole at the rear of the exaughst. At least that is how I understood him. Right at the base where the header is attatched to the muffler he cut it all the way around. Then cut the pipe entering into the muffler just inside the muffler housing. Slid the housing back on and welded it up. As for the cam he said it was an HCR or HRC can't remember. Certainly a cheap enough experiment if you ask me. He would lose the holeshot everytime but once the cam and all had a chance to do its stuff he went on by just before the 300' mark. I was as shocked as anyone would be. Let us know if you give this a try and how it works out.
