I had both and raced both.......Raptors are fun and fast but not as fast as a Banshee..
I'm not talking stock, port, pipes, carbs on dirt a Raptor has a chance because of hook-up
but a Banshee will catch and pass the Raptor if it doesn't get holeshot.....my opinion and experience...

Took the woords right out of my mouth, Gary.

Besides, there is no truth on this subject. The 2 machines are so close in performance it is not even funny. They stay prety close stock and also with the typical bolt-on mods.

Talis,

The truth is a piped banshee on hard surface will smack a stock raptor.

I used to be able to smack my neighbor before he got all upset about it all the time and decided to take matters in his own hands and then one day I heard a strange new noise in the area that was never heard before and then I saw it, Beautiful chrome on the 97 banshee.

Now after take off and about 100 feet he is pulling away and smokin or smackin me.

Now, I need a piped Banshee. The high pitched whale is nice.

Talis,
That is the real truth and I am the someone to give you the truth!

Well stock for stock they are very comparable. The raptor might be a little bit faster, but it is very close. However when you start doing mods to both the banshee edges the raptor out.

However, I think the banshee is a much more fun quad to ride and if I were chosing one today it would be the banshee. The rush of the 2stroke is just so much more fun and in the dunes the banshee really shines.

I also find that with the narrow seat on the raptor I often get hit kind of hard right in the nuts and it is not very comfortable, where as the banshee seat seems to have a bit more protection.

I am not bashing on the raptor, it is a great machine with a lot of potential.

I have a 2002 raptor and my friend has a 01 banshee, we have simalar mods him having a few more. When we drag, he beats me by a qaud lenght, unless i wheelie, then he gets a little more. The truth to me is the banshee is a little faster in a straight line, but I would never trade my Raptor for one. They are both great machines and tons of fun, very closely matched for being so different!

See, actually I wanted to say "Banshee is faster, Basnhee is faster, na na" but I didn't but since everyone seems to agree then Banshee is faster, Basnhee is faster, na na

I think piped Banshees are pretty close to 40 HP at the wheels. Piped Raptors are similar but after that is where the Banshee is easier to get more power out of.

At least 40 HP seems to be where you want to be to be a capable dune machine I think (I know we are not all duners). To me, the Dunes is what really defines the need for serious horsepower.
