I was thinking a wolverine ( kinda sporty, for her anyway ) or I was thinking mabey the Scrambler 400 or 500 must be 4x4 .I am buying used (96 - 99) and I am limited to $$$$ but I don't want to end up with a pile of **** that's going to nickel and dime me. anybody know of a descent reliable machine ?? we do mostly mountain riding ( creeks , skagg , hills )we just got rid of an old bigbear , good quad but a tank to ride and she was ridin that for the past 4 years. any input is appriciated

I would stay away from a used polaris you might get a good on but you are just as likley to get a cancer, the wolf is a great bike but if it is for your wife I would look more to the auto bikes unless she really knows how to ride b/c she will have much more fun. Try a Kodiak they are great quads the wolf might have her working a little harder.

I never really thoght about a Kodiak Ultramatic but I have heard alot of good things about them and she would definatly have more fun on something that's easy to ride.... and I probably wouldn't have to wait for her as much when I'm riding my Zilla .. He..He.. That old big bear was surely not fast or nimble.

The wolverine has an auto clutch so its not as tough as a true manual. Its a great bike, good top speed for a 350 with full time 4 wheel drive.

I own two Scramblers and both have been really solid bikes. My wife can handle it very easily.

The Automatic is a real nice feature for a woman (not that women can't shift) or people just starting out.

Both are rock solid the wolv. has not changed since it was introduced so I can not see there being any year to look out for. Any auto quad you buy I would have it checked. The person befoer you might have damaged the belt and (not that it will do damage) you may be missing some performance. If you are not familiar with the unit you might think all is normal.
