I was doing an extremely fast trail ride with no stops. 70 kilometers later as I got back on to the tar road to head home, I felt and heard my bike going clank....clannk!!
Of course I could only hear the noise once I slowed down. As long as I had the bike pinned wide open, I couldnt even tell that there was anything wrong with my bike. I stopped to check it out, and discovered that all 4 nuts on my right wheel had come loose,
wearing massive grooves in the soft alliminium rims. Thankfully I never lost the wheel .....it could have been nasty.

Im guessing that this must have happened to loads of you out there. My question is
Did you throw the damaged rim away, or did you get it repaired.
I got the repair shop to weld up the grooves and redrill the original holes.

Has anyone fixed a rim in this manner, and if so, have you had any further issues with the repaired rim?

Moral of the story.....REMEMBER TO CHECK AND TIGHTED ALL MAJOR BOLTS BEFORE RIDING
